Community Acupuncture
The Calmest Revolution Ever Staged!

This short community acupuncture documentary film was filmed by Brian Lindstrom and co-produced by Jessica Feltz, community acupuncturist from The Turning Point Clinic in Maryland. It’s a great little film that follows six community acupuncture patients showing the impact of affordable acupuncture on their lives and communities.

At its heart, it tells the story of the community acupuncture movement which now has grown into an international phenomena with independently own clinics in Canada, South America, the UK and Israel. It’s a story of using business to change societal problems of economics, health and well being. Calmest Revolution explores how a small group of loud-mouthed, over-educated, under-employed activists and a massive group of regular people with average incomes have revolutionized healthcare services by using large empty rooms, old recliner chairs, and two-penny needles.

POCA

Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture, our staff, and volunteers are members of the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture. POCA is a co-operative run and fueled by co-op members who believe that acupuncture should be available to people: learn more about that here.

We see acupuncture changing lives every day. It’s simple, safe and effective, as well as the most widely used medicine in the world! Last year POCA clinics, about 150 of them in all, gave more than 1 million treatments.

We support the Community Acupuncture movement with our POCA membership and our volunteer hours.

We know that acupuncture can change the world, and would love for you to join us in The Calmest Revolution Ever Staged!

Community & Co-operatives

Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture is part of a nationwide movement to fix health care. We're members of a national co-op, the Peoples Organization for Community Acupuncture, a group that is helping bring clinics like ours into existence. Patients and acupuncturists alike are members of the co-op; anyone can join!

Building community is essential to our clinic. Stress, pain and illness are isolating. When you come for care you'll notice other people receiving treatments in the rooms with you. People are quiet during their treatments and in all likelihood you'll never know the names of the people or why they come for care. But over the years we've found that treating in a community setting makes acupuncture more effective. Group treatments like ours are common in Asia. And it makes it easier for us to see the volume of people we need to keep our prices low. And for patients to bring their family and friends along, too.

Often patients enjoy the space so much they want to become more involved in the community: they join POCA, the Peoples Organization for Community Acupuncture, and find our ways to contribute by volunteering and getting involved.

If you're interested in helping out, just let the front desk staff know. Communities like ours are always growing. For more information about the community acupuncture movement and POCA click here.
