Rad Mads Meetups

Rad Mads Meetups

Mental Health Peer Support

Rad Mads meetups take place monthly @Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture on the last Friday of every month at 7pm.

Our Reiki practitioner, Jimmy Dunson, is now facilitating monthly meetups at the clinic whose aim is to offer peer support and mutual aid for people experiencing extreme states of mind. These “Rad Mads meetups”, a local manifestation of The Icarus Project, explore alternative frameworks for understanding madness or extreme states of mind commonly labeled as “mental illness” and question what it means to be labeled “crazy” in an insane world.taking care basics

These meetups are a safe place to share personal experiences with understanding and compassionate peers, build community, and strategize towards building individual and collective wellness, wholeness, and liberation. Coping strategies and other tools are shared among participants in a nonjudgmental, horizontal and confidential atmosphere.

At Rad Mads meetups participants seek to tap into the true potential that lies between brilliance and madness. Sensitivities, visions, and inspirations, can at times be dangerous, but are not necessarily symptoms of illness. Alternatively, we can see these things as gifts needing cultivation and care. When honored and nurtured, these gifts can lay the foundation for a wiser and more compassionate society. As a mutual aid community, we can intertwine threads of madness and creativity to inspire hope and transformation in an oppressive and damaged world.

POCA

Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture, our staff, and volunteers are members of the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture. POCA is a co-operative run and fueled by co-op members who believe that acupuncture should be available to people: learn more about that here.

We see acupuncture changing lives every day. It’s simple, safe and effective, as well as the most widely used medicine in the world! Last year POCA clinics, about 150 of them in all, gave more than 1 million treatments.

We support the Community Acupuncture movement with our POCA membership and our volunteer hours.

We know that acupuncture can change the world, and would love for you to join us in The Calmest Revolution Ever Staged!
