May Day 2016

Celebrate May Day with Your Co-op Members

Monday, May 2nd, community acupuncture clinics around the world begin their 13th Annual May Day Celebration. Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture will join in the celebration on Monday by providing our POCA Co-operative members free acupuncture 2-8PM at the clinic (last session starts at 7PM). Join POCA and join us!

May Day is an annual holiday that celebrates late 19th c. Americans efforts to have an eight-hour workday. Because of its significance in the labor movement, May Day has become an occasion not only of international celebration, but also widespread protest.

Protest high prices! Protest inaccessibility to health care and healthy life options! Protest by taking care of yourself!

Community Acupuncture clinics are social businesses and non profits dedicated to affordable healthcare. We provide acupuncture treatments on a sliding scale of $15-$40, regardless of one’s insurance or income. With around 200 Community Acupuncture clinics in North America, thousands of individuals are expected to celebrate May Day this year by getting free community acupuncture!

Acupuncture is recognized by the World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health for effectively treating nearly four dozen conditions, including: side effects from chemotherapy, seasonal allergies, neck & back pain, sciatica, headaches, arthritis, stress, depression, anxiety, infertility, and more. In 2014, community acupuncture clinics throughout the country provided more than 1.1 million acupuncture treatments — that’s more than 40% of all acupuncture done in the U.S.

POCA

Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture, our staff, and volunteers are members of the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture. POCA is a co-operative run and fueled by co-op members who believe that acupuncture should be available to people: learn more about that here.

We see acupuncture changing lives every day. It’s simple, safe and effective, as well as the most widely used medicine in the world! Last year POCA clinics, about 150 of them in all, gave more than 1 million treatments.

We support the Community Acupuncture movement with our POCA membership and our volunteer hours.

We know that acupuncture can change the world, and would love for you to join us in The Calmest Revolution Ever Staged!

Interested? Help spread access to acupuncture by learning more about POCA.  Click here to join online.  Or drop by Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture to talk with us more about our favorite co-operative, POCA!
